Program Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Education degree NOT required)
  • Minimum of 3 years post university work experience
  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA
  • Aspiration to have an impact in urban education
  • High level of energy and initiative
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Applicants must take and pass the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Basic Skills Test; Illinois Basic Skills Test scores are valid for only 5 years. 

For application to the UNITE Class of 2011, exams taken prior to August 2006 will have to be repeated.
The following Illinois Basic Skills test dates are available for applicants to the UNITE Class of 2011:
September 12, 2009
November 14, 2009
January 9, 2010
